A brand new, small-town community on 2,200 acres, minutes from Raleigh and the Carolina Research Triangle. The Plantation earned a Silver Award for homes in the $524,900-$649,000 range at the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County Parade of New Homes. The community has its own school system.

Golf

The community is the site of the TPC at Wakefield Plantation, a 7,257-yard, par-71 championship course designed by former US Open champion Hale Irwin. Owned and operated by the PGA, it is the second course of its kind in North Carolina. The course hosts the Buy.com Carolina Classic.

Built on rolling terrain, the course's features an abundance of hardwoods and pines, a natural 11-acre lake that fronts the No. 9 tee and seven holes where existing creeks come into play. The course has four sets of tees, ranging from 5,108 yards to 7,257 yards.

There is also a 9-hole executive course available for those who can't spare four hours on the links.

Real Estate

Twelve different neighborhoods are available to choose from at Wakefield, ranging from the $140,000 townhomes at The Village to $2 million+ homes in Rosemont. There is also plenty in between. The Rosemont homes are surrounded by four golf course fairways.

By the year 2005, Wakefield plans to have more than 3,500 homes in its various neighborhoods. Options will include homesites, executive homes, golf course villas, cluster homes, single-family custom homes.

When you decide to build, you will pick from Wakefield's set of pre-approved builders. Home sales topped $51.5 million in the community's first year, and have continued to rise.

Miscellaneous

The private, TPC Sports Club features swimming pools, tennis and volleyball courts, and children's play areas. The community also has biking, hiking and walking trails that meander throughout the various neighborhoods. Residents also have access to nearby Falls Lake.

Wakefield boasts that it's a town, rather than just a golf community. Recreational facilities, shopping centers, schools and commercial enterprises are on site. There will be a YMCA, skating rink and movie theater onsite as well.
